As in the past, architecture/paintings use to be created with the purpose of looking nice or great in perspective of being positive at all times and to follow religion.
Now with Modernism, it was decided that the truth of the era has to be represented aswell as to build something for a purpose so that no time could be wasted and the work could proceed.
Thus in conclusion, Modernism resulted in architecture/painting to pepresent a point as to why they are created aswell as representing their time and age, plus religion dwindled due to more focus on science and further advances.
